STRONG EARTHQUAKE SHOOK SOLOMON ISLANDS

KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 (Bernama) -- A strong earthquake with 6.2 magnitude on
Richter scale shook Solomon Islands in the Pacific Ocean at 10.04am today, the
Malaysian Meteorological Department said in a statement.

The epicentre was at Santa Cruz Island, 658km south-east of Honiara, the
capital of Solomon Islands and 5,518km south-east of Kunak, Sabah.

No tsunami threat was issued.
