Ban reelected as U.N. chief

NEW YORK, June 21 (Yonhap) -- U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was unanimously reelected to a second term on Tuesday, apparently in recognition of his tireless efforts to reform the 192-member organization and mediate peaceful solutions to conflicts in several parts of the world.
Ban, a former South Korean foreign minister, was inaugurated in 2007 and his first term is to end this year. With his reelection by acclamation at the General Assembly, Ban will continue in his post until 2016.
