Ban Ki-moon sworn in as UN Sec Gen for second term.
UNITED NATIONS, June 22 (Itar-Tass) - The UN General Assembly on
Tuesday re-appointed Ban Ki-moon, 67, as UN Secretary General for the
second term. His candidacy, recommended by the UN Security Council, was
approved by the General Assembly by acclamation.
Later in the day, at a ceremony in the General Assembly Hall, Ban
Ki-moon took an oath of office as UN Secretary General with his hand on
the book containing the text of the UN Charter that had been signed by the
UNO founding countries at the Constituent Conference in San Francisco on
June 26,1945.
