Iran Urges Ban to Remove Shortcomings during Second Term as UN Chief

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran on Tuesday called on UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to act on the basis of the charter of the world body and be attentive to shortcomings in his second five-term tenure.
The UN General Assembly voted unanimously to give Ban Ki-moon a second term as Secretary-General on Tuesday.

"We expect Ban Ki-moon to equitably treat all countries during his second term as the UN chief," Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Mohammad Khazayee said.

Behaving on the basis of the UN charter, carrying out reform in the UN departments and global disarmament are among Ban Ki-moon's new responsibilities, the Iranian envoy told the Islamic republic news agency.

He further said the UN chief should prevent some certain states from abusing the international and regional events.
