TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a phone conversation with his Cuban counterpart Raul Castro stressed Tehran's resolve and willingness to reinvigorate relations with all Latin American states, specially Cuba.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran attaches special importance to its relations with the Latin American countries, specially the revolutionary and great state of Cuba, believing that the policy serves the interests of the world's freedom-seeking and revolutionary nations," Ahmadinejad said.
The Iranian president said Tehran and Havana share common views in their relations with the international community, and said, "The two countries are seeking to advance the goals and causes of their revolutionary and independent nations through establishing sustainable relations and adopting shared views."
Castro, for his part, pointed to Iran's special position among revolutionary countries and nations, and laid emphasis on the increasing expansion and promotion of Tehran and Havana's bilateral and regional ties.
Ahmadinejad's administration has striven hard to maximize relations with the African continent and the Latin America.
In October, Cuba's Minister of Foreign Relations Bruno Rodriguez Parrila stressed the need for the further expansion and development of ties between his country and Iran, saying that a brilliant future is waiting for the two countries' ties.
