STX OSV wins platform supply vessel order for 240 bln won

SEOUL (Yonhap) - STX OSV Holdings Ltd., a European unit of South Korean shipbuilding conglomerate STX Group, has won a 240 billion won (US$223 million) deal to build two platform supply vessels, the group said Thursday.
Under the deal with Farstad Shipping ASA of Norway, STX OSV will deliver the vessels starting from the second quarter of 2013, it said.
The vessels, 87.4 meters long and 21 meters wide, will be used to transport goods and equipment to and from offshore facilities, it said.
Last month, STX OSV also received a 120 billion won order from the Norwegian shipping firm.
STX OSV, with its focus on offshore plants and specialized ships, started trading its shares on the Singapore Exchange on Nov. 12 last year.
Shares of STX Corp., the group's de facto holding firm, were trading at 22,800 won on the Seoul bourse as of 9:30 a.m., down 1.08 percent.
