Kukdong Engineering wins 30 bln won order from Cambodia

SEOUL (Yonhap) - South Korean builder Kukdong Engineering & Construction Co. said Thursday that it has signed a 30 billion won (US$27.9 million) deal to repair and build 106 kilometers of road in Cambodia along with Kumho Construction & Engineering Inc.
Under the deal, Kukdong Engineering said, it holds a 70 percent stake in the project, with Kumho Construction owning the rest. The state-run Economic Development Cooperation Fund will finance the project, the builder said.
Kukdong Engineering said that it will start work later this month, with the project to be completed in 30 months.
The project calls for repairing two national roads and one arterial road and building a new bypass in Cambodia, the company said.
It is the fourth order Kukdong Engineering has won from Cambodia since entering the Cambodian road construction market in 2004. It has constructed a total of 292 kilometers of road in the Southeast Asian country.
