USA hopes to normalise trade with RF before it joins WTO.

WASHINGTON, June 23 (Itar-Tass) -- The White House hopes that the
Congress will approve Russia's status of a normal trade partner over the
current year, before Moscow joins the WTO, Christopher Wilson, Assistant
United States Trade Representative in the Office of WTO and Multilateral
Affairs at the Office of the United States Trade Representative, said on
Wednesday.
It is clear that Russia hopes to finalise the process of joining the
WTO before the year ends, he told a conference in Washington.
We should focus on necessary voting /at the Congress/ before it
happens, he added.
Wilson explained his position by the fact that in that case American
producers will be able to use new advantages immediately as Russia joins
the WTO.
He expressed support from the USA for negotiations, which Russia
continues with Georgia.
We support those efforts, he said, referring to Switzerland's role in
the process.
