Belarus lifts restrictions on EU vegetable transit to Russia.

MINSK, June 24 (Itar-Tass) -- The Belarussian health ministry lifted
restrictions on the transit of fresh vegetables from EU countries to
Russia halted earlier this month because of a deadly E.coli outbreak in
Europe, the official BELTA news agency reported on Thursday.
The ministry said E.coli situation in the country remained normal and
no cases of the disease were registered.
The European Union and Russia signed a deal on Wednesday allowing to
resume trade in fresh EU vegetables. However head of Russia's state
consumer protection watchdog Gennady Onishchenko said imports would resume
after Brussels provides Moscow with a list of official bodies and
laboratories authorized to issue food safety certificates.
The deal "does not mean that everything will immediately return to the
Russian market," Onishchenko said.
