OSCE security review conference due in Vienna June 29-July 1.
MOSCOW, June 25 (Itar-Tass) -- The annual security review conference
of the OSCE will be held in Vienna from June 29 to 1 July, the Russian
Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
"This forum has been held since 2003 to regularly review the situation
in the Euro-Atlantic space in the military-political sphere, in responding
to transnational threats, as well as issues of crisis management," the
Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"The Russian interagency delegation will include Federal Drug Control
Service Director Viktor Ivanov, and officials of the federal security
service FSB, the Interior Ministry and Foreign Ministry. Deputy Foreign
Minister Alexander Grushko will lead the delegation."
"This year the ASRC is expected to gather an impressive list of
participants," the Russian Foreign Ministry said. "In particular, the
conference will hear statements by NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh
Rasmussen, Chairman of the Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary
Sergei Lebedev, the CSTO Secretary-General Nikolai Bordyuzha, US Secretary
of State deputies Rose Gottemoeller and Daniel Russell, and a deputy
secretary-general for political affairs of the EU external action
service," said the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"The focus of the review conference will be on the implementation of
the long-term task of building a security community free from dividing
lines, stated "in the Declaration of the OSCE summit in Astana (December
1-2, 2010)," the ministry said.
"Thematically, the current Review Conference will be divided into four
working sessions on issues of strengthening "hard" security, the search
for collective responses to new threats and challenges, measures to
enhance the capacity of the OSCE in conflict prevention and resolution, as
well as cooperation with Asian and Mediterranean Partners," the Russian
Foreign Ministry said.
"It is expected that on the basis of the results of the 2011 ASRC the
current Lithuanian chairmanship will make recommendations regarding
further work for building a "security community" in the region with the
