MAHB HOPES BID OUTCOME FOR MEDINA AIRPORT JOB BY YEAR-END

KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB)
hopes the result of its bid for the expansion of the Prince Mohammed Bin
Abdulaziz Airport in Medina will come out by year-end.

"We've already submitted our bid.

"The work is through a consortium to build a new terminal and runway," MAHB
Managing Director Bashir Ahmad said Saturday at the inaugural GLC Open Day
2011 organised by Khazanah Nasional Bhd here.

MAHB had prequalified to bid for the work based on its experience and also
strong technical knowledge, he said.

The award would be under the build-transfer-operate basis for 25 years.

He said MAHB was also looking at one to two more bids by year-end.

On the company's prospects, Bashir said it was encouraging in terms of
passenger movement with a growth of 11.9 per cent in the first quarter, mainly
from China, Indonesia, India and the Middle East.

He said MAHB expected a 10 per cent growth in passenger traffic volume this
year despite uncertainties in the aviation sector.

MAHB had been able to register eight to nine per cent growth in 2009 during
the global slowdown, he added.
