LG's 3D Cinema TV receives top honors in U.S. market
SEOUL (Yonhap) - A three-dimensional (3D) TV made by LG Electronics Inc. has won top honors as the best product on the market from a leading U.S. consumer magazine, the South Korean electronics giant said Sunday.
LG said Consumer Reports, which publishes monthly reviews to over 7.3 million subscribers, gave the highest marks to its Cinema 3D TV after evaluating all 13 similar products sold in the United States.
It said the magazine gave 76 points to its film patterned retarder (FPR) type 3D TV, praising both its high-definition and standard-definition picture qualities, excellent sound system and 3D effect using special lightweight glass.
The company claimed that the rating is far higher than those received by rivals such as Samsung Electronics Co., Sony, Sharp and Toshiba, all of which Consumer Reports reviewed in detail.
Samsung's rival 3D products, meanwhile, received low marks by Consumer Reports, although it has been praised by other product review groups in Britain, France and the Netherlands.
