Venezuelan Envoy:Global Coordination Key to Successful Campaign against Terrorism

TEHRAN (FNA)- Venezuelan Ambassador to Iran described coordination among the world countries as the key to a successful campaign against terrorism.
Speaking on the sidelines of the International Conference on the Global Fight against Terrorism on Saturday, David Velasquez viewed the conference as a very important initiative against terrorism in the world and an initiative towards respect and solidarity among the world nations.

"The Venezuelan people and the entire Latin American countries generally share a history of fight against terrorism. We have the experience in our countries regarding different forms of terrorism against people, movements, and social organizations," he said.

The Venezuelan ambassador went on to say that "imperialistic and capitalistic policies are the causes of the increase in terrorism."

"For us, the only way to change this situation is to promote social and economic safety, and more peaceful, diplomatic policies in the world."

Velasquez further rejected the western attempts to create a link between Islam and terrorism, and mentioned, "I believe that the world religions talk about peace and solidarity and humanity, and they have nothing to do with terrorism."

These days, Iran is hosting an international conference against terrorism. The Tehran conference has brought together senior officials from at least 60 countries, and representatives from several international organizations including the UN.

The event is aimed at increasing international convergence and coordination in fighting terrorism.
