Iran Urges Regional States to Respect People's Demands

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian security official called on rulers of the regional countries to respect their nations' demands as a way to restore security and stability in the region.
Speaking at a meeting with Omani Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawi here in Tehran on Saturday, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili pointed to the recent developments in the region and stressed that paying attention to nations' rights and demands are a basis for regional security and stability.
Alawi is in Tehran to attend the First International Conference on Global Fight against Terrorism.
Jalili also stated that regional developments have weakened the Zionist regime of Israel's strategic basis and stressed that Washington cannot stop the trend of the downfall of the Zionist regime.
Yusuf bin Alawi, by presenting an analysis of trend of regional development, underlined importance of the role and stance of the Islamic Republic of Iran in consolidating stability in the region.
In recent months, a wave of revolutions and anti-government uprisings has been sweeping the Arab world.
In January, a revolution in Tunisia ended the 23-year ruling of former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.
In February, another Arab revolution led to the ouster of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak after three decades of his authoritarian rule.
Other revolutions have since then erupted in Libya, Yemen and Bahrain, while anti-government unrests are spreading across Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait and Algeria.
