Spokesman Stresses Positive Outcomes of Tehran Conference on Terrorism

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast said the Tehran anti-terror conference is seeking to have a global and international look at the devilish and inauspicious phenomenon of terrorism, and underlined that the gathering would yield positive outcomes.
"We are seeking to study all the claims made about war on terrorism in a bid to clarify if those who clam to be fighting against terrorism have really taken a serious move to root out terrorism," Mehman-Parast said on Saturday evening.

"The conference has a global and international view," he told Iran's Jam-e-Jam tv network, and added Tehran believes that terrorism is not an issue merely related to just a particular part of the world.

The Iranian foreign ministry presser called for a real and global campaign against terrorism, and stated, "We should take a serious and real move to confront terrorism at the international level."

"All victims of terrorism should participate in the move and all international organizations should feel responsibility and be hopeful about eradication of this phenomenon," Mehman-Parast reiterated.

The First International Conference on Global Fight against Terrorism officially started work here in Tehran on Saturday with several high-ranking officials and international figures in attendance.

The event has brought together senior officials from at least 60 countries, and representatives from several international organizations including the UN.

The event is aimed at increasing international convergence and coordination in fighting terrorism.
