Vatican Archbishop Urges Dialogue to Resolve Global Conflicts
TEHRAN (FNA)- Dialogue, and not arms, is the solution to global conflicts, the official representative of Vatican politics Archbishop Edmond Farhat said.
Speaking on the sidelines of the International Conference on the Global Fight against Terrorism in Tehran on Saturday, the Vatican diplomat said the Popes of the Catholic Church have always insisted on dialogue, charity, and pardon.
He also welcomed a call for institution of a "secretariat for dialog" with respect to the fight against terrorism.
Archbishop Farhat went on to say that terrorism is "a political movement".
"There is no word for terrorism in my religion, Christianity," he added.
The two day International Conference on Global Fight against Terrorism officially started work here in Tehran on Saturday with several high-ranking officials and international figures in attendance
The event has brought together senior officials from at least 60 countries, and representatives from several international organizations, including the UN.
The high-profile conference, held with the slogan of a "World Without Terrorism", is aimed at increasing international convergence and coordination in fighting terrorism.
