Explosion in Jeju kills 2, wounds 2 others
An explosion of a multi-family residence in Jeju Island killed two people and left two more wounded on Monday, firefighting authorities said.
The explosion erupted at about 7 a.m. at the three-story building in northern Jeju, the authorities said.
Two people inside the residence at the time of the explosion were killed while two more people were wounded and rushed to a nearly hospital, according to them.
"At about 7:00 a.m., I went outside after hearing two noisy bangs, and I found the building ablaze," a witness said.
Police and firefighters said the explosion may have been caused by liquefied petroleum gas fuel used inside the building, adding they are closely investigating the exact cause of the accident.
