Iran Underlines Positive Results of Palestinian Resistance

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi praised the Palestinians for their resistance against the occupying Zionist regime, and expressed confidence that Palestinian lands will be freed as a result of the resistance strategy.
Addressing the International Conference on Fight against Terrorism here in Tehran on Sunday, Salehi pointed out that the conference has recognized the right of those people who fight for the freedom of their territories from occupation.
He also reiterated that combat on terrorism should not be done in opposite to the UN charter and against the national sovereignty of countries.
Elsewhere, Salehi underlined the necessity for a united definition of on terrorism to prevent the misuse of the concept.
The two-day Tehran summit ended up work here in Tehran on Sunday after issuing a final statement.
The final statement was read by the Iranian Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, in the closing ceremony of the two-day conference this afternoon.
In paragraph 6 of the final statement of the Tehran summit "the participants underlined, as also reiterated by Iran's Supreme Leader, the need for providing a consensual definition for terrorism without prejudicing or affecting, in any manner, the recognized rules and principles of international humanitarian law. It was emphasized that legitimate struggles of peoples under colonial rule or foreign occupation for their inalienable right of self-determination should not be labeled as terrorism".
The Tehran international anti-terrorism conference started work on Saturday with senior officials from at least 60 countries and representatives of several international bodies, including the UN, in attendance.
The event, arranged under the slogan of "A World Without Terrorism", was aimed at increasing international convergence and coordination in fighting terrorism.
The topics discussed in the summit included various aspects of fighting terrorism, reasons behind the increasing trend of terrorist activities in the world, challenges and obstacles in the way of fighting terrorism, and enhancing appropriate counter-terrorism means and strategies on bilateral, regional and international levels.
