Members of Iran's Nanotechnology Laboratories Evaluated for 9th Time
TEHRAN (FNA)- The members of Iran Nanotechnology Laboratory Network (INLN) were evaluated and graded according to their performance in 2010-2011 for the ninth time.
In this ranking, 'Iranian Research Institute of Inorganic Material Processing', 'Polymer and Petrochemistry Research Institute', and 'Razi Metallurgic Research Institute' ranked first to third, respectively.
The member laboratories were ranked according to the services they provided, their use of the existing laboratory capacities in the field of nanotechnology, customer-orientation, and their network cooperation.
95% of the member laboratories took part in the evaluation process, which indicates a 4% growth in comparison with the previous year's ranking. A growth of more than 54% in comparison to the previous ranking was observed in the number of the people who referred to the member laboratories to receive laboratory services.
Among the reasons for such growth, mention can be made to increasing the laboratories' knowledge about ISO/IEC17025 International Standard, paying more attention to the customer and customer-orientation, facilitating the processes to use laboratory services, increasing cooperation between laboratories, sample exchanging, sending customers to other centers, and also increasing the time at which the laboratories provide services.
Iran Nanotechnology Laboratory Network was established in 2004 with the goal of creating an appropriate atmosphere for the provision of laboratory services to university and industrial researchers and to better utilize the country's laboratory capacities,. It has so far accepted 45 laboratory services centers as its members among all laboratory applicants.
Among the objectives of the establishment of INLN, mention can be made of the periodical evaluation of the member laboratories and supporting them, organization of educational workshops in order to improve the technical ability of the laboratories, supporting the cost of repair, development, and manufacturing of laboratory devices, supporting the acquirement of ISO/IEC17025 standard, and provision of consultative services for laboratories and the related centers.
