Seoul shares open higher on Wall Street rallies

South Korean stocks got off to a strong start Tuesday as Greek optimism and subsequent gains on Wall Street bolstered investor sentiment, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 0.82 percent, or 16.99 points, to 2,087.28 in the first 15 minutes.
On Monday, U.S. stock markets finished higher as investors held the view that Greece's parliament made positive steps toward passing an austerity plan. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 0.91 percent and the tech-focused Nasdaq Composite index was up 1.33 percent.
Stocks traded in positive territory across the board. Blue-chip tech and oil refiners, including LG Electronics and S-Oil, were the biggest winners.
The local currency was trading at 1,082.2 won to the greenback as of 9:15 a.m., up 3.4 won from Monday's close.
