LG Electronics ranks 50th among top employers for Chinese students: poll

HONG KONG, June 28 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's LG Electronics Inc. ranked 50th among ideal employers for Chinese college students, the first South Korean company to make the list, a poll showed Tuesday.
LG also won the No. 3 spot among the consumer electronics makers, according to the survey of 185,964 students from 764 colleges and universities nationwide. China's online job portal asked students which company they want to work for most after graduation. The survey, however, did not show how many votes each company garnered.
LG, the world's No. 2 maker of flat-screen TVs, was the only South Korean company to be listed among Chinese students' most favored firms. No Japanese firm made the top 50.
"LG Electronics has become one of the representative enterprises in China's consumer electronics industry since its establishment of operations in 1993," the company said.
Meanwhile, China Mobile Ltd., the state-owned telecommunications company, was chosen as the most ideal employer, followed by the Bank of China, one of the big four state-owned commercial banks in China. Alibaba Group, the operator of China's largest e-commerce Web site, ranked third.
Among the college students' top 10 picks were three foreign firms, Microsoft Co., Procter & Gamble Co. and Google Inc., according to the poll.
