DuPont Korea opens innovation center in S. Korea
SEOUL, June 28 (Yonhap) -- DuPont Korea Co., the local unit of U.S. chemical firm DuPont Co., opened an innovation center in South Korea on Tuesday in a bid to beef up research and development and cooperation with buyers.
The innovation center, located in Bundang on the southern outskirts of Seoul, is the first such institution established by the U.S. firm in a foreign country, according to DuPont Korea.
The company said that the center will carry out research on automobiles, electronics, solar energy and construction in cooperation with clients.
"(We will) play an important role in the company's effort in building alliances and partnerships with people, companies, governments and organizations around the world," DuPont's Executive Vice President Thomas Connelly said in an opening ceremony. "We will lead and facilitate inclusive science-based innovations responding to local needs,"
He said that the research center will create synergy by combining its research and development forces and DuPont's global technology.
Im Jung-taek, president of DuPont Korea, said, "We will offer DuPont's high-end technology and global network to Korean companies through the innovation center."
DuPont said that it will also open innovation centers in Taiwan, Thailand and India, following the one in South Korea.
