Nazarbayev suggests considering OIC's participation in G20.

28/6 Tass 98

ASTANA, June 28 (Itar-Tass) -- Kazakhstan's President Nursultan
Nazarbayev suggests to member-countries of the Organisation of Islamic
Conference /OIC/ discussing his initiative, which he voiced over the World
Islamic economic forum in Astana, regarding participation of the
organisation in summits of the Group of 20.
"I believe, that OIC should participate actively in decision making at
the global level, and I suggest considering possible participation of the
OIC representatives in the G20 summits," he said on Tuesday at the opening
of the 38th session of the OIC's Council of foreign ministers. This "would
raise the G20's representation level" and "will let the OIC
member-countries follow consolidated positions in most important issues on
the international agenda."
Kazakhstan has taken the chairing role in the OIC from Tajikistan on
Tuesday.
"I have the honour to hand over the chair to Kazakhstan's Foreign
Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov," Tajikistan's Deputy Foreign Minister
Nizomeddin Zokhidov said at the opening of the session.
