S. Korean students rank first in OECD's digital comprehension test

South Korea ranked first among the world's major economies in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development's (OECD) test of students' digital reading comprehension, Japanese news media reported Wednesday.
South Korea was placed first, securing 568 points, followed by New Zealand and Australia (both 537 points), Japan (519 points) and Hong Kong (515 points), they said.
The survey of 36,000 students aged 15 in 19 countries across the world was conducted simultaneously with the OECD's 2009 Program for International Student Assessment. It is the first time that the organization has measured students' digital reading ability.
Students were asked to read questions on a computer screen and input answers. The survey also measured students' ability to access Web sites and use e-mail and electronic bulletin boards.
