Seoul shares up 0.07 pct in late-morning trade
SEOUL, June 30 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks were trading 0.07 percent higher late Thursday morning as large-cap chipmakers and steel producers capped gains by shares of mobile carriers, analysts said.
Narrowing earlier gains, the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) edged up 1.37 points to 2,095.79 as of 11:20 a.m.
Chipmakers lost ground, tracking price declines in computer memory chips. Market heavyweight Samsung Electronics and chipmaking giant Hynix Semiconductor were each down more than 1 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,070.85 won to the greenback as of 11:20 a.m., up 5.95 won from Wednesday's close.
