MODERATE EARTHQUAKE HITS PHILIPPINE ISLANDS REGION
KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 (Bernama) -- A moderate erathquake with a magnitude of
5.0 on the Richter scale hit the Philippine Islands at 4.52am Thursday.
The Malaysian Meterological Department said in a statement the epicentre was
441km northeast of Cebu, Philippine and 1,202km northeast of Sandakan, Sabah.
The earthquake did not pose a tsunami threat.
Sabah is an East Malaysia state.
