Man receives jail term for videotaping belly dancing women
SUWON, South Korea, June 30 (Yonhap) -- A man was sentenced to prison Thursday for secretly videotaping women who were belly dancing while scantily clad.
The Suwon District Court handed down a 10-month prison term to the 39-year-old man surnamed Lim, saying his behavior is tantamount to sexual violence.
He was indicted for surreptitiously videotaping a group of women attending a belly dancing class on seven occasions during March from the rooftop of a building in Yongin, just south of Seoul. Clad in tank tops, the women were dancing vigorously in a studio in a building next to where the man was taping, the court documents said.
"The accused committed the crime again to meet his sexual desire even after being punished for a similar wrongdoing," Judge Lee Dong-hoon said. "The court delivers a severe punishment given that the mental pain on the victimized women seems to be huge and that the tape could cause secondary harm by being circulated."
