SENIOR IT PROFESSIONALS CAN GARNER MONTHLY BASIC SALARIES OF UP TO US$10,000
KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 (Bernama) -- Senior information technology
professionals with basic or masters degrees and having more than eight years
experience in the relevant field are the highest paid skilled talents across
various industries in Malaysia.
A SAP or software team leader with 8-12 years experience could command a
minimum basic salary of RM18,000 (US$6,000) a month rising up to a maximum of
RM30,000 (US$10,000) per month, according to the latest employment outlook and
salary guide 2011/2012 released by Kelly Services (M) Sdn Bhd Thursday.
The firm, which provides worforce solutions besides offering a comprehensive
array of outsourcing and consulting services, said that an engineering manager
with a degree and 8-10 years of experience could get a montly basic salary of
RM10,000 (US$3,333) rising up to a basic maximum of RM15,000 (US$5,000) per
month.
The salaries do not include bonuses, allowances and Employees Provident
Fund contribution by employers.
Marketing Director of Singapore and Malaysia for Kelly Services Jeannie
Khoo said IT jobs were the market leader with increasing demand for
technology-driven products and service offerings.
"Even traditional services in the banking industry depend on technology to
drive their products and services," she told Bernama.
Demand for IT jobs was more intensifed as Malaysia progresses towards
achieving a high-income economy.
A call centre manager with a diploma or degree and with 4-5 years
experience, could earn a minimum basic salary of RM7,000 (US$2,333) per month
and a maximum salary of RM10,000 per month.
An accountant in a senior position with a professional qualification and 6-7
years of experience could be paid a mininum basic salary of RM7,000 per
month and a maximum basic salary of RM12,000 (US$4,000)per month.
For public relations managers with a degree and 4-5 years of experience,
can earn a minimum basic salary of RM5,000 (US$1,666) and a maximum basic salary
of RM6,000 (US$2,000).
Sales and marketing jobs offer attractive renumeration with a head of
sales and marketing with higher diploma/degree/masters and 10 years of
experience able to command a minimum monthly basic salary of RM15,000 (US$5,000)
and a maximum basic salary RM20,000 (US$6,666).
According to the Kelly Salary Guide, the information, communications and
technology (ICT) industry remained a major contributor to the country's economic
development.
"The upcoming projects and investments in the country with the Economic
Transformation Programme and the Prime Minister's efforts to promote
foreign investments in the country will also augur well for the job market
particularly for skilled jobs in growth sectors," Khoo said.
The Kelly Employment Outlook and Salary Guide 2011/2012 presented an
optimistic outlook of the job market in Malaysia despite ongoing scarcity due to
talent migration.
Presenting key findings at the launch of the Kelly Salary Guide Thursday,
Managing Director of Kelly Singapore and Malaysia Melissa Norman said ICT
professionals with five to eight years of relevant experience would see a
further increase of between 15 and 20 per cent in renumeration next year.
"The attractive salaries in the IT field is also prevalent in other
countries that could offer even higher salaries to attract talent. This is the
war for talent," Khoo said.
However, in other countries it is not just IT jobs that offered competitive
and attractive salaries, according to Khoo.
"In Singapore, jobs in the banking and finance sectors offer atrractive
salaries in line with the country's position and reputation as an
established regional banking and finance centre," Khoo said.
Khoo stressed that it was not only salaries that attracted talent.
"Senior level professionals who are in their 40s and 50s require other
perks such as flexible work arrangements and life balances so that they could
have more time with their children," Khoo said.
However, expectations are also higher, according to Khoo, with organisations
requiring job applicants to have the ability to kick start projects and deliver
results or key performance indicators and return on investment.
Khoo said contrary to general perception, organisations do not
favour people who job hop frequently.
"Job hopping will not reflect positively on the resume," she said.
