Renault Samsung unveils new crossover utility vehicle

SEOUL, July 1 (Yonhap) -- Renault Samsung Motors Co., the South Korean unit of French automaker Renault SA, said Friday that it started selling the updated QM5 crossover utility vehicle across the country.
The new QM5 produced by the country's fourth largest carmaker is a makeover of the existing vehicle with streamlined exterior lines, rearranged headlamps and a radiator grille that gives it a more "urban" style that could be more attractive to consumers.
The two-wheel-drive model with a 2.0-liter engine has a fuel economy of 15.1 kilometers per liter of diesel oil, and produces maximum horsepower of 173 and max torque of 36.7 kilogram-meters.
The new QM5 is up to 650,000 won more expensive than existing models with the price tag of a four-wheel-drive, diesel-engine model set at 32.15 million won (US$30,000).
The carmaker said that new crossover vehicle should meet the needs of local consumers and has price competitiveness vis-a-vis rivals in the local market.
