GMS ministers meet in Vientiane

VIENTIANE,JUN.(KPL)- Ministers of the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) countries meet here yesterday to discuss the development of economic corridors in the region.
The GMS Ministers aimed their discussion at developing the East-West Economic Corridor, North-South Economic Corridor and the Southern Economic Corridor to ensure strengthening Pathways for Sustained Progress in the region which includes Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
Also discussed at the meeting were issues constraining the development of the regional economic corridors and proposed actions for accelerating the development within the context of the new GMS Strategic Framework as well as the strengthening of coordination and networking among various sectors, groups, and entities involved in economic corridor development and the enhancement of efforts in increasing the participation of private sector and provincial authorities.
The participating delegates also exchanged point of view on the promotion of public-private partnership in GMS economic corridor development.
The meeting was under the chair by Mme Khempheng Pholsena, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office and GMS Minister for Lao PDR.
