GM Korea sales rise 10 pct in June

SEOUL, July 1 (Yonhap) -- GM Korea Co., the South Korean unit of U.S. automaker General Motors Co., said Friday that its sales in June rose 10 percent from a year earlier on strong demand for new models launched here earlier this year.
GM Korea sold a record 79,557 vehicles last month, compared with 72,296 units sold in the same period last year, the company said in a statement. Domestic sales surged 37.2 percent on-year to 13,761 units with exports also rising 5.7 percent to 65,796 units.
The company said it delivered 106,178 vehicles to overseas markets last month in complete knock-down kits that can be assembled into full automobiles.
For the first half, sales jumped 11.2 percent on-year to 413,536 units. Domestic sales rose 19.5 percent to 69,071 units in the January-June period, and exports gained 9.7 percent to 344,465 vehicles, the company said.
