Hyundai Motor sales rise 12.3 pct in June
SEOUL, July 1 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's leading automaker, said Friday that its sales in June rose 12.3 percent from a year earlier on strong demand for its vehicles at home and abroad.
Hyundai Motor sold 352,255 vehicles last month, compared with 313,579 cars sold a year earlier. Domestic sales surged 22.9 percent to 59,761 units with overseas sales also rising 10.4 percent on-year to 292,494 units, it said. Total overseas sales include cars made in South Korea and foreign assembly plants.
For the first half, Hyundai said sales rose 10.6 percent on-year to a record 1.95 million vehicles, the record six-month number. Overseas sales were up 11.4 percent to 1.60 million units in the January-June period, and domestic sales gained 7.2 percent to 344,422 units.
