S. Korean parliamentary speaker to visit Baltics, Denmark

SEOUL, July 1 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's parliamentary speaker will leave Seoul this weekend on a 12-day trip to Baltic states and Denmark for discussions on economic cooperation with the European countries, his office said.
Rep. Park Hee-tae's trip to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Denmark starting on Saturday comes a day after South Korea's free trade deal with the European Union took effect. Park plans to discuss ways to expand trade and investment in talks with political leaders and government officials, his office said.
South Korea is the first Asian nation to have a free trade deal with the EU.
During his visit to Lithuania, Park plans to discuss the country's plan to replace an old nuclear power plant, his office said. South korea is keenly interested in selling its power-generating nuclear reactors.
On the last leg of his tour, Park will drop by Denmark for a visit to non-profit design foundation INDEX and green-roofed ecovillage project, called 8-Talle, it said.
It is the first time for a key Korean political leader to visit the Baltics since South Korea forged relations with the northern European nations since their independence from Russia in 1991.
