Iran, Azerbaijan to Exchange Legislative Experiences

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Parliament Speaker, who is in Baku on an official visit, lauded the age-old relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, and said he has had good talks with Azeri officials on different issues, particularly parliamentary ties and cooperation.
"Iran and Azerbaijan will exchange their experiences in issues like legislation," Larijani said in a press conference in Baku.

"The two countries' parliaments are members of the Asian and Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Unions and we can support each other in such circles," Larijani noted.

"We support Azerbaijan's diplomatic and parliamentary activities in international circles," the Iranian parliament speaker said.

Larijani further stated that part of his negotiations with the Azeri officials, including Azeri President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Artur Rasizade, also focused on expansion of economic ties.

"The two countries have positive views about expansion of ties, and we had discussions about political and regional issues since the series of the sensitive events taking place in the region shows that Islamic states should have cooperation with each other," he noted.

Tehran and Baku have sought to expand their ties, specially in trade and economic fields, and signed several cooperation agreements in recent months.
