Senior MP: Iran to Destroy Tel Aviv if Attacked by Israel

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian legislator warned Israel to stay off a military attack against Iran, underlining that Tehran would destroy Tel Aviv with its powerful missiles if it is faced with an aggression.
"If Israel embarks on committing a mistake against us, we will destroy Tel Aviv and Israel will have from 2 to 3mln refugees in the very first moment," member of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mohammad Karami Raad told FNA on Saturday.

Stressing Iran's high military and missile capabilities, Karami Raad said, "The world is now aware that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a big missile power in the Middle-East region and we are ready to confront any kind of aggression."

Meantime, he reiterated that Iran pursues defensive goals in developing and producing advanced military equipment, and said, "We believe that using modern armaments is a defensive and deterrent tool, but in case of an aggression by any country against Iran, our tactic and method will be invasive."

Iran has warned that in case of an attack by either the US or Israel, it will target 32 American bases in the Middle East and close the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz, the entrance to the strategic Persian Gulf waterway, is a major oil shipping route. A major part of world's energy supply passes through the waterway.

Meantime, the IRGC test-fired different types of newly-developed missiles in massive exercises on Monday and Tuesday.

During the first stage of the exercises, codenamed as Payambar-e Azam (The Great Messenger) 6, the IRGC tested Fateh-110 missiles.

The Fateh-110 is a short-range, road-mobile, solid-propellant, high-precision ballistic missile with advanced navigation and control systems.

On Tuesday and in the second phase of the drills, the IRGC fired simultaneously 9 ground-to-ground Zelzal missiles and 5 Shahab class missiles, including 2 mid-range Shahab-1, two mid-range Shahab-2 and a long-range Shahab-3 missiles.

The liquid-fuel Shahab class missiles include a wide range of missiles, including the well-known Shahab-3 which has a range of up to 1,250 miles (2000 kilometers) and is capable of carrying a 1,000-760 kilogram warhead.
