President Chavez recovering 'at almost miraculous pace'.
CARACAS (Itar-Tass) - President Hugo Chavez, who had
comprehensive surgery for an oncological problem in Cuba, is recovering a
an almost miraculous pace, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro said
Satutday as he spoke on national television.
The doctors did a very timely job as they found out that Chavez had a
malignant tumor. This made it possible to them to eliminate it quickly,
Maduro said.
He quoted the doctors as saying Chavez has perfectly functioning all
the vital bodily organs.
Maduro admitted that Chavez's post-surgery trauma was a really big one
and his recovery after the surgery was very slow in the first three or
four days, but soon after that the President started standing up from his
bed and walking, doing physical exercises, and abiding by the diet
prescribed by the doctors and his physical condition improved noticeably,
The minister thanked on behalf of the Venezuelan people all the Latin
American leaders who had sent the wishes of earliest possible recovery to
Chavez.
He indicated that, apart from politicians and government officials,
the wishes of recovery had come from many famous people, including
football star Diego Maradona. The latter man voiced the confidence that
the support of many millions of people will help Chavez to clear away the
current problems and to take part in a new presidential election next year.
