Boeing 787 arrives in Japan for test flights by ANA+

TOKYO, July 3 Kyodo -
A Boeing 787 arrived Sunday at Haneda airport in Tokyo for test flights to be conducted by All Nippon Airways Co. ahead of the world's first use of the U.S. company's new medium-sized aircraft by the Japanese carrier.
If the certification process goes smoothly, ANA will start operating the new aircraft, dubbed the Dreamliner, around September or October on domestic routes. The aircraft's introduction has been delayed from the initially planned May 2008 due to safety problems.
The plane, which arrived from Seattle, will make test flights to Itami airport in Osaka Prefecture on Tuesday, to Kansai airport also in Osaka Prefecture on Wednesday, Okayama and Hiroshima airports on Thursday and Chubu Centrair airport in Aichi Prefecture on July 10, according to ANA officials.
The fuselage of the 787 has been made lighter using composite material that includes carbon fiber, with pressure inside the cabin set higher than conventional aircraft to create conditions closer to that at ground level for passenger comfort.
Its fuel efficiency and cruising distance are also better than conventional medium-sized planes.
