S'PORE FURNITURE DELEGATION TO FORGE STRONG BUSINESS TIES WITH CHINA

SINGAPORE, July 4 (Bernama) -- The Singapore Furniture Industries Council
(SFIC) and International Enterprise (IE) Singapore are leading a seven-member
delegation, comprising Mozaic Brand Ambassadors, to China to forge strong
business ties.

The delegation members comprised Furniture Co (Pte) Ltd, Getz Bros & Co
(S)Pte Ltd, Harvest Link International Pte Ltd, Lorenzo International Ltd, Sitra
Holdings (International) Ltd, Star Furniture Pte Ltd as well as SFIC Institute
Pte Ltd, a unit of SFIC.

In a joint statement Monday, they said the mission, from July 3-8, 2011,
would cover major Chinese cities such as Beijing and Tianjin, which formed part
of the third largest furniture production and export regions in China.

"SFIC and China National Furniture Association (CNFA) based in Beijing will
also seal a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on programmes and
improve industry practices in three major aspects -- information exchange and
bilateral business collaboration, design development and professional training,"
it said.

It said the delegation would also meet with Tianjin Furniture Association
and Beijing Furniture Trade Association to get an exclusive insight into China’s
furniture retail market during their visits to Cheng Wai Cheng Furniture Mall,
Ji Mei Furniture World and Ju Ran Zhi Jia (Easyhome).

SFIC president, James Goh, said leveraging on each other’s strengths and
networks, the MOU would help furniture players from both countries identify and
employ the best business practices.

"Ultimately, such exchanges will enhance the economic and design
prowess in the growing furniture industry," he said.

Lee Puay Min, divisional director of retail division, Lifestyle Business
Group, IE Singapore said furniture consumption in China was high, hitting US$80
billion in 2009.

"This figure is expected to grow by eight per cent each in 2011 and 2012,
spelling potential for Singapore furniture companies to enter this market with
their quality products," he said.
