WOMEN BETTER AT SAVINGS

KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 (Bernama) -- Women seem to be better at saving money
compared with men, says AmBank, based on the winner of its first gender based
campaign and contest, The Biggest Saver.

The winner of the campaign's RM100,000 (US$33,333) grand prize was a woman,
Nur Farah Abdol Aziz, while the total savings of women during the campaign
outperformed the savings of men by 0.54 per cent, AmBank said.

Ambank said the savings trend seemed to also be in line with the findings of
a research conducted by Postbank in Ireland, which found that women tend to be
better than men at saving money.

Meanwhile, AmBank's campaign (Feb 14 to April 30) which offered a total
prize money of RM240,000 (US$80,000) was aimed at increasing customers'
participation and giving them the opportunity to compete to save against the
opposite gender.

In line with the campaign concept, monthly winners were rewarded with prizes
specific to their gender type. A system driven random selection method was used
to select the winners based on their total number of entries accumulated during
the campaign period.
