Iran's Top Security Official: Tehran Ready for N. Cooperation with Egypt

TEHRAN (FNA)- An Iranian top security official here on Monday voiced Tehran's preparedness to transfer its home-grown nuclear knowledge to the other world countries, including Egypt.
"Iran is ready to provide Egypt with its scientific and technical experiences in the production of peaceful nuclear energy and launch cooperation with Cairo in this ground," Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili stated.

Speaking to the Egyptian al-Ahram newspaper, Jalili welcomed resumption of diplomatic ties between Iran and Egypt, and said he sees "no security hindrance to the resumption of relations between the two countries".

"Arab revolutions will no doubt change regional equations," he underscored.

After the collapse of Hosni Mubarak's regime, the Iranian and Egyptian officials voiced their interest in the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries and Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi officially invited his Egyptian counterpart to pay a visit to Tehran.

Elsewhere, Jalili who is also Iran's chief negotiator stated that Iran hasn't changed its stance on the country's inalienable rights to access nuclear technology, underlining that the country's nuclear policies are irrevocable.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran insists on its nuclear stances," Jalili noted.

Despite the rules enshrined in the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) entitling every member state, including Iran, to the right of uranium enrichment, Tehran is now under four rounds of UN Security Council sanctions for turning down West's calls to give up its right of uranium enrichment.

Tehran has dismissed West's demands as politically tainted and illogical, stressing that sanctions and pressures merely consolidate Iranians' national resolve to continue the path.

Political observers believe that the International and unilateral sanctions against Iran have had no result but inflicting damage on the US and European companies.
