SINGERS TO LIFT SPIRIT OF PEACEKEEPERS IN LEBANON

KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 (Bernama) - The arts platoon of the Territorial Army
will be sent to Lebanon next month to lift the spirit of peacekeeping troops.

Defence Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi hopes that this will attract
more artistes and people from various races to join the Territorial Army.

"I will take some of them to break fast with the family of officers in
Lebanon.

"They will also visit army, navy and air force camps during the fasting
month," he said after launching military training for the arts platoon at 515th
Regiment here.

The arts platoon of the Territorial Army is made up of local artistes.

Also present were Armed Forces Chief Gen Zulkifeli Mohd Zin, Army
Chief Gen Zulkifli Zainal Abidin and Air Force Chief Rodzali Daud.

A total of 22 artistes including Malaysia's popular singer Siti Nurhaliza
were involved in the first training session Monday.

Zahid appreciated the efforts of Siti Nurhaliza and another singer Ana
Raffali in promoting the Territorial Army in schools.
