Commander: Enemies Feel Disappointed Due to IRGC's Preparedness

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian military commander lauded the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps' performance in defending the country as a main deterrent to enemy threats, saying that IRGC's excellent functioning and high military preparedness have actually discouraged enemies from taking action against the Islamic Republic.
"The IRGC's preparedness, prompt presence (on the scene) and vigilant actions have made enemies angry and disappointed," Deputy Head of Iran's Armed Forces General Staff for Logistic and Industrial Research General Mohammad Hejazi said on the occasion of the 'Islamic Revolution Guards Day' on Monday.

"They (enemies) see the IRGC as an obstacle to the materialization of their filthy intentions and attainments of their devilish goals," Hejazi said.

He further described the sanctions imposed on the IRGC's top officials as a "joke", and said the move signifies enemy's anger at the IRGC's power and enemies' inability to hit a blow at the Islamic establishment.

Also earlier today, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei praised the IRGC for its steadfast resistance against enemies.

The Leader pointed to the IRGC's growing trend of progress, and said to promote its potentials and capacities, the IRGC should continue reinvigorating its capabilities and promoting its qualities and vigilance.

The IRGC which was created over 30 years ago has now turned into a well-equipped and well-trained force.

IRGC's power and unique capabilities are not only admired by friends, but also acknowledged by foes.

In a Sep. 11, 2008 report, the Washington Institute for the Near East Policy also said that in the two decades since the Iran-Iraq War, the Islamic Republic has excelled in naval capabilities and is able to wage unique asymmetric warfare against larger naval forces.

According to the report, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Navy (IRGCN) has been transformed into a highly motivated, well-equipped, and well-financed force and is effectively in control of the world's oil lifeline, the Strait of Hormuz.

The study says that if Washington takes military action against the Islamic Republic, the scale of Iran's response would likely be proportional to the scale of the damage inflicted on Iranian assets.
