Ahmadinejad Congratulates Venezuelan Counterpart on National Day
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a message on Tuesday extended his congratulations to the Venezuelan government and nation on the country's national day.
In his message to Hugo Chavez on the country's Independence Day (July 5), the Iranian president praised Venezuela's efforts to gain independence from the hegemonic powers.
President Ahmadinejad said Iranians support all freedom-seeking and independent nations of the world.
Expressing his satisfaction with Tehran-Caracas growing relations, the President wished for prosperity and progress of the people and government of Venezuela.
Since taking office in 2005, the Iranian President has expanded Iran's cooperation with many Latin American states, including Venezuela, Bolivia and Cuba.
But the strong and rapidly growing ties between Iran and Venezuela have raised eyebrows in the US and its western allies since Tehran and Caracas have forged an alliance against the imperialist and colonialist powers and are striving hard to reinvigorate their relations with the other independent countries which pursue a line of policy independent from the US.
