TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asian and Oceanic Affairs Mohammad Ali Fathollahi in a meeting with India's Deputy Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao conferred on different ways to further develop mutual cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the meeting held here in Tehran on Tuesday, the two officials discussed bilateral and regional issues, specially Afghanistan and the recent developments in the Middle-East and Arab states.

Cooperation between Iran and India in confrontation with piracy was among agreements achieved on Tuesday meeting.

Settlement of consulate problems and cooperation on Afghanistan were among other issues discussed by the two sides.

The two sides also underlined holding the 17th meeting of joint commission of Iran and India.

In March, Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi in a meeting with India's National Security Advisor (NSA) Shivshankar Menon here in Tehran described India as a country with a special and important position in the region and the world.

He underlined the need for more frequent visits and expanded relations between the two countries' officials and politicians.

Salehi noted the abundant capacities and capabilities of both states, and added, "Iran is a country with huge energy resources, while India owns advanced technologies, and this means that the two countries can have very good cooperation in economic, trade, technological and other fields."

"We are ready for any kind of cooperation" with India, the Iranian Foreign Minister reiterated at the time.

The Indian official, for his part, urged for the betterment and boost of relations, and said, "Either side enjoys many capacities and is, meantime, able to create new grounds for cooperation."
