RF's FM regrets RF citizen's sentence in China is not first case.

(Adds information)

MOSCOW, July 7 (Itar-Tass) - Russia's Foreign Ministry states
regretfully that the case where a Russian citizen was sentenced in China
is not the first one, the ministry's spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said
on Thursday commenting on the death sentence to Ildar Sultanov, who was
accused of drug smuggling.
"Unfortunately this is not the first case, where a Russian citizen is
detained and sentenced in China for such a grave crime," he said.
"Russia's embassy provided defence to this country's citizen during
the trial stages," Lukashevich said. "The trial complied fully with the
norms of international law and China's legislation."
"Representatives of the diplomatic mission visited him," he added. "He
did not initiate claims regarding his custody."
The death sentence has a two-year delay in execution. According to
China's legislation, as this term expires, the sentence may be eased.
Presently, there are six Russians in China, who have been sentenced for
crimes related to drug smuggling. Four of them are women.
