North Korea refutes allegation of being behind drug smuggling to
PYONGYANG, July 9 (Itar-Tass) - North Korea's Central News Agency on
Saturday refuted South Korean media allegations that Pyongyang is behind
drug trafficking to China.
"Dong-A Ilbo, a South Korean conservative newspaper infamous for its
plot-breeding and hackwork in the world, released a false report on July 5
that the DPRK smuggles drugs to China and it has systematically produced
drugs at state approval," the news agency said and called such reports a
"whopping lie" invented by those seeking to instigate "confrontation with
fellow countrymen."
"Such social problems as drug use have never existed in the DPRK,"
North Korea's news agency says. "The DPRK, a signatory to the
international conventions on drug control, strictly controls
hallucinogenic and other drugs under international law as well as domestic
laws and regulations."
