Salehi Describes Iran as Reliable Partner for Singapore

TEHRAN (FNA)- Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi lauded the close relations between Iran and Singapore, and underlined that Tehran attaches much importance to is ties with Singapore.
"Singapore is an important country for Iran and on the other hand Iran is a reliable partner for Singapore, given its special place in the Middle-East and the region," Salehi said at a meeting with outgoing Singaporean accredited ambassador to Tehran on Saturday.
Pointing to the volume of the bilateral trade ties between the two countries, the Iranian minister stated, "Iran enjoys ample potential and capacities in the trade and economic sector, and we can promote the level of exchanges in this field."
The Singaporean envoy, for his part, lauded the close ties between the two countries, and expressed the hope that the two countries' high-ranking officials would increase their reciprocal meetings in future in a bid to further develop the bilateral relations between the two states.
Iranian and Singaporean officials have recently increased their contacts in a move to boost bilateral trade ties and cooperation.
In a meeting with Singaporean Minister of Transport Lui Tuck Yew in June, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani stressed Tehran's willingness to boost bilateral ties with Singapore, and underlined the Iranian parliament's support for closer ties between the two nations.
"Iran has a positive look towards the expansion of economic, political, international and cultural ties with Singapore," Larijani said.
During the meeting, Lui Tuck Yew said that Singapore attaches much importance to its ties with the Iran.
The minister added that the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed by the two countries' ministries provided a proper chance for the expansion of mutual cooperation and increase of the bilateral trade ties between the two nations.
