Commander: Enemies Seeking to Demonize IRGC to Hit Islamic Revolution

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior official of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps underlined the IRGC's key role in the advancement of the Islamic Revolution, and cautioned that enemies are seeking hard to demonize the force in a bid to undermine the Revolution.
"Today, local and foreign enemies are seeking to harm the IRGC's popularity through utilizing all their possibilities. The global arrogance has made the largest investment in terms of time in a bid to defame the IRGC," IRGC Politburo Chief General Yadollah Javani said, addressing a group of IRGC staff and personnel on Sunday.

Javani further elaborated on enemy motive for such a move, and said enemy has embarked on such measures due to the IRGC's essential role in advancing the goals and causes of the Islamic Revolution.

The official further stressed that the IRGC is fully prepared to defend the Islamic Revolution as well as the achievements and Islamic identity of the Islamic ruling system.

"Today, the IRGC is ready to defend the ruling system under the command of the Commander in Chief (Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei) and can move ahead in advancing the exalted goals of the revolution."

The IRGC has played an unrivalled role in the establishment and protection of the Islamic Republic ever since the onset of the victory of the Islamic Revolution over 33 years ago.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in his address to a large number of IRGC commanders and personnel on the occasion of the 'Islamic Revolution Guards Day' on Monday praised the IRGC for its steadfast resistance against enemies.

"A fair assessment of the IRGC's performance since the beginning of the Revolution's victory shows that it has truly and honestly taken strides and shown resistance in following the footsteps of Imam Hosseini (AS) (Shiite Muslims third Imam)," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

He pointed to the IRGC's growing trend of progress, and said to promote its potentials, the IRGC should continue reinvigorating its capabilities and promoting its qualities and vigilance.

"The new and young generation of the IRGC should be growingly higher and stronger (than the older generation) in knowledge, informedness, insight, dedication, correct and prompt accomplishment of tasks and duties, because although there is no military war happening today, a more delicate and of course more dangerous war is underway," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The IRGC which was created over 30 years ago has now turned into a well-equipped and well-trained force.

IRGC's power and unique capabilities are not only admired by friends, but also acknowledged by foes.

In a Sep. 11, 2008 report, the Washington Institute for the Near East Policy also said that in the two decades since the Iran-Iraq War, the Islamic Republic has excelled in naval capabilities and is able to wage unique asymmetric warfare against larger naval forces.

According to the report, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Navy (IRGCN) has been transformed into a highly motivated, well-equipped, and well-financed force and is effectively in control of the world's oil lifeline, the Strait of Hormuz.

The study says that if Washington takes military action against the Islamic Republic, the scale of Iran's response would likely be proportional to the scale of the damage inflicted on Iranian assets.
