Quake rocks Southern Kuriles, no tsunami threat.

    TOKYO, July 12 (Itar-Tass) - An earthquake measuring 5.4 points on the
Richter scale hit the Southern Kuriles on Tuesday.
    According to Japan's meteorological department, there is no tsunami
threat.
    The epicentre was located 44.9 degrees of north latitude and 151.8
degrees of east longitude in the Pacific Ocean east of Japan's
northernmost island of Hokkaido.
    The quake focus was located at the depth of about 10 kilometers under
the ocean bed. The strongest jolts were registered at the eastern part of
Hokkaido.
