SEOUL -- A North Korean joint venture with a European company has opened a luxury restaurant in the capital of the isolated country, the company said Tuesday.
Hana Electronics JVC opened "The Restaurant at Hana" and related leisure facilities such as a swimming pool, sauna, hairdresser and bar in its headquarters in Pyongyang, Europe-based Phoenix Commercial Ventures said on its Web site last week.

SEOUL -- Reuters, the London-based news agency, said Monday (local time) it will start distributing news video from North Korea under a new agreement with the communist state's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
The announcement comes shortly after the U.S.-based Associated Press (AP) agreed with the KCNA to open a bureau in the North Korean capital of Pyongyang to produce text and photo journalism in addition to the video news it has already been providing since 2006.

SEOUL -- South Korea's Hyundai Motor Co. and its sister company Kia Motors Corp. emerged as the world's fourth-largest carmaker in 2010 on solid sales in the United States and China, a Japanese market researcher said Tuesday.
Their combined output just surpassed 6.60 million units last year, up 23.6 percent from 5.34 million cars a year earlier, according to Fourin Inc. Hyundai and Kia are the flagship companies of Hyundai Motor Group.

Unfair stock trades rise 6.5 pct in H1
SEOUL -- Unfair stock trading cases in South Korea increased 6.5 percent in the first half from a year earlier, with most of them on the secondary bourse, the financial watchdog said Tuesday.
The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) said it had detected 98 unfair stock trades in the January-June period, up from 92 in the same period last year. Of the total, 72 cases were turned over to the prosecution.

SEOUL -- The number of people coming in and out of South Korea on international flights rose 4.2 percent on-year in the first half as a growing number of South Koreans are going abroad for vacation, the government said Tuesday.
The number of international flight passengers to and from South Korea reached 19.95 million in the first six months of the year, up from 19.15 million in the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Land, Transportation and Maritime Affairs.
